I'm still a Nelly fan, even though I don't know what to expect from the whole album. I have to admit I didn't like "Maneater" when I first heard it, but it always happens that her new music ends up growing on me, and since I haven't heard the entire album I won't be quick to judge. Either way, i think Nelly, as an artist and a human being, is free to do whatever she wants, which is what she has been saying since she started. And I'm sure she is ready to deal with all that comes with the change, good or bad, it is part of being an artist and growing after all.
I also agree with mmm , "Maneater" kind of reminds me of Janet Jackson in the 80's.

i honestly think that if nelly makes a fourth album (PLEASE!!!) its going to something totally different again. maybe if she becomes really famous again shell have enough groundbase to re-introduce things she explored in folklore. i know shes not gonna turn to being every other pop star because if she would have then we would have already seen it after ilab and whoa nelly. this is just another and completely different side to nelly. shes multi-faceted. amazing i think...l.

yeah i was saying in another thread that people could interpret this as nelly selling out like they did jewel and she could become even less famous. i definitely think this is a possibility. atleast in america.

Why can't the girl just write an album that people will want to dance to and have a great time with? People change. Music changes. If you want to hear whoa, nelly! or folklore again...well, pop it into your CD player.

I totally understand not liking the hip hop style. To each their own. But all this "what happened to my nelly!?" bullshit is a little lame. She's not yours, she is her own person. With her own personal style. (as varied as it may be; kudos to her!)

The bottom line is she is a terrific artist who likes to experiment musically. If she loses fans along the way, so be it. I'm willing to bet she'll make for the lost ones with new fans who enjoy the new vibe.

Yes, I think she is selling herself out. I'm a fan, but I ain't deaf or stoopid, she is doing something totally comercial because she wants to be a hit. Is like she tooke all the qualitys that I admire, like "she didn't use sex to sell music" and throw this away. I'm so sorry. The songs are cool, but aren't good comparing with any music from Whoa, Nelly! and Folklore. I'm a fan, but I have my own personality... I don't have to like everything she does... And I think we have to be true about our feelings...

Well... I'm a 100% with her too. I loved Whoa, Nelly!, and when I listened to Folklore for the first time I kinda missed some stuff that the WN songs featured, but I think I love Folklore even more! It's in my opinion, one of the most honest and creative albums I've ever heard. So Loose will be different... So what? I think I'll grow to love it too. And yes, it is kind of a shock all this Maneater-Promiscuous style, but if that's what she felt like doing it's OK with me, she's being honest with herself, and that's what I love about her. And if this record is more succesful than the previous ones, that will mean more money and more contracts and more music from her in the future.

I don't think she's really going to sell out. If someone can be as chamaleonic as to appear or make people think she's sold out but really hasn't, it's our Nelstar... So let's wait and see if she can work the industry for her benefit, come on, she's a smart girl.

And, that's just the point of her not being a one-trick pony... She's not doing the same stuff all over again, she's taking chances. And she's not dancing for the music industry or even for us, she's dancing now because she wants to, for herself. I think everyone can take a leaf out of that book...
