The Wikipedia Debate

Hey peeps,

It seems to me that their is a ton of discussion over wikipedia and its reliablilty on this forum. So i thought that i would make this poll to see what most peeple think about it.

I've come across people who love it while i've also found others that refuse to believe anything posted on wikipedia and one person in particular who said that wikipedia is as reliable as the north korean news station.

So plz post ur thoughts!!!!

my thought is personally wikipedia is useful for somethings while for others its a load of made up bullshit. so again plz post ur thoughts!!

It's great to get a general idea of a certain topic but you should never stick with one single source

good point! like for instance when rescearching the periodic table of elements i found wikipedia extremely useful but while investigating a movie from the 90's i found it completely and utterly useless

Wikipedia is okay in some aspects while useless in others.

Very good when you need to quickly need to look up a general overview/meaning of a topic. Not good for research projects though.

yeah, it is useful at times. It would be nice if it had seperate sections that only registered users could post on. like they had to be qualified in the field in order to post on that section.
like the periodic table for instance, only a phd in chemistry or something like that could list items or properties there. that way there would be more credibility in wiki.

Totally agree with Jer, it's really useful, not 100% reliable but it's still good, a really big database, though, I'd never use it with important projects.

I use it at times but I do realise it's not a very reliable source.
