It's true you need to talk to the label that is in control of Nelly's releases in each country.
here it is Universal, basically depends on the country, here it wasn't released cause they felt it would be shadowed by other huge releases being just before Christmas and therefore wouldn't get a look in, so it isn't being released "this side of Christmas" at least. Which to an extent I can understand as there has been no promo done here no one would know it was released and therefore with the potential it has it wouldn't be entirely fair, my worry is that it may not get released here at all. We need to get one of us on staff in charge of Nelly stuff in each of the countries at either management or the labels, then we would be sweet! ![]()

Don't reem me for this but.......It's probably b/c Nelly's type of music is no longer 'popular' here in the states.
It's all Hip-Hop and Alternative...and stupid emo which is okay for 20 mins then it's too much. I like Nelly but you never hear me listening to her much anymore.I'm into ska and grunge more. The CD's you'll find me listening to are Sublime,No Doubt,Green Day,Nirvana,Nonpoint,Eminem....Ska is my roots,I could never leave that. Nelly's music isn't the same anymore...maybe it's b/c after we got burnt out waiting for the new CD my life started to change again and that's why It's not nearly as appealing to me anymore. Don't get me wrong I still love her music.....

I couldn't agree more. Her music may have been popular here three to four years ago, and was at it's peak in 2001.
As a matter of opinion, most Americans (at least within the 12-24 age bracket) would much rather listen to hip-hop, alternative, or pop. Sadly, it's the more popular music and artists that even get airplay in the States in this day and age, especially by the big media conglomerates in mainstream radio and television (Clear Channel, Viacom) ... to some, viewed as an act of capitalism (though helping sales). But, then again, there's the minority, which tend to listen to the more obscure artists that are outside the mainstream. |

Nah and when you think about it,3 or 4 years ago how old were you?I mean I was 13 or 14....get it?I've always listened to the harder type of music but 'pop' music was something that I enjoyed too.Now I think 'pop' is dead.....it died when Nsync and Backstreet Boys called it quits and Pre-teens finally got a grasp on reality and grew up. And Nelly might have had a chance if she wouldn't have dicked around so much for Folklore. (Don't get pissed b/c I said 'dicked around' it's a saying that's popular like 'Fag' and 'retarded',I didn't mean shit by it)

Yeah I have to say I looked at the US charts recently and wanted to vomit. I can't believe how much hip hop etc etc and all that shit is in it. I mean that's my tastes of course but even if you like it you have to admit the US is overrun by it.
I think the old pop is slowly disappearing here as well. Not completely though because the Australian Idol artists are selling bucketloads. But generally the music here has just taken this really strange massive turn. All the sort of alternative artists that I always liked who played at all the music festivals and such and basically just kept touring the country constantly but never made it overseas are now selling through the roof here. Slower music and different styles of alternative music are the thing here now. Kylie jumps up the charts with all the old faithfuls buying her music straight away but then she just disappears straight out of the charts cause nobody else seems to care anymore. Now you have to write your own music and be great live to sell your records. Some artists' singles won't even ever chart but their albums are selling loads. I think it's great and I hope the US starts to turn in this sort of direction too. A lot of other countries have always had this which is even better.

- Her p.r. team/management SUCKS! I admit to being biased, but Nelly is one of the great talents of her generation, but you would not know it by the level of promotion she gets. - The 3-year layoff between albums hurt - IMHO, following up Powerless, which got good play, with Try, was a big mistake and momentum killer. How different would things have turned out if Explode had been single #2? - Her concerts were very well attended, a clear sign of popularity. - Her record label changed hands during the middle period of the release. This could not have been helpful, especially in light of comment #1 above. I fully expect that she will amaze all of us once again when she is ready. :whistle

just an added point...there is no "hip hop" on the Billboard charts...it's rap...little Jon is an idiot...as are most of the bling driven idiots that make rap music these days. Life would be so much better if the charts were filled with hip hop. oh and Nelly rocks!
