Volvo Ocean Race in Rotterdam
Yesterday the Volvo Ocean race 2005-2006 came into town, I did not go and see them come in but approx. 80.000,- people did. I had some time to spare this afternoon as I had a doctor's appointment and decided to make some pictures, the last picture is our appartment, 3rd floor, direct on the waterfront at the end of the kay.

Yeah I've seen some of it on TV..between the Dutch football match and the Roland Garros final
 ABN AMRO 1 won, even though the weather was very calm.I bet you had a nice view

It's cool to see the ships in real life. They are smaller than they look on TV. The whole "Veerhaven" has been transformed for the Ocean Race. Many companies have built hospitality suites around the harbour and there are an awfull lot of tourists.
For Rotterdam it's great promotion, I think it's actually fun to see all kinds of tourists walking around with city maps. |

Hehe lol. I jogged this morning through the 'Veerhaven' without looking at the boats. I did realize I was passing them by but for some reason I didn't looked at them. And indeed the complete Veerhaven and Westerkade is transformed for the Volvo Ocean Race.
Ah well maybe I'll "remember" to watch this afternoon, maybe...

oooh Rotterdam, would really like to visit that place some day. I've heard only wonderful things from friends who have been there
i have no idea what the race is about but sea + boats is a nice combination
