For the second time in the chess history the men and women world champions come from one country.And this isnt the Russia or some other chess suerpower.And both are from Bulgaria.One small on the map country with only couple dozens chess grandmasters now is number 1 in this sport

This is one game that I don't understand. I mean, I can play it, but sometimes it takes ages for some people to make a move and it annoys the hell out of me and I get bored of the game. My brother enjoys it though.

We had a chess grandmaster as well. Paul Keres played against ten world champions, beat nine of them, and drew with Karpov. He never played in a world championship match. Estonia was occupied by the Soviets and he was forced to lose important matches against other Soviet players and to make it short, he feared for his life. Although his career suffered, he managed to avoid deportation to Siberia. "I was unlucky, like my country," he said.

chess is great if you're playing with someone who is at the same level as you are...sitting there and getting whooped isnt so much fun.

wow both from bulgaria, thats great! i havent played chess for years, and must say i dont really like the game. I do like other tactical games like Risk and Colonists, not really for the game itself but for playing it with friends that i know real well and they know me well, so the negociating part is always a big verbal war i fortunately am quite well in lying without showing it in facial expression
