this topic seems to not be sparking discussion now but I think that she does thank us by going on tour and doing TV shows and performances and whatnot--I mean, what's the point of doing a concert? It's to give something back to the people who have gotten your CD and now are looking for something more. I don't know, I don't really feel like she or any other musician for that matter has an obligation to put down in paper "thank you" to his or her fans because while fans are obviously a big part of the deal, I don't think anyone becomes a musician just for that. That person does it because he or she loves it and fans come as a result of the work and music and whatnot. And yes, we are the ones buying the albums--but then that's why they keep on putting out albums. Partly for personal reasons, but also, I see it as a way to say to the fans: by the way, you still matter enough that I want you to hear this new material.

Also, I'm sure that being a celebrity is a very demanding thing because you have to do all these interviews and not be bitchy to people you meet and stop and sign autographs and everything and I think it's in those things, the autograph signings and whatnot, that an artist expresses his or her thanks--I'm not even sure if I'm being coherent anymore cause I'm sleepy and I have to write a paper. Damned history!
