SOTR.com comes to an end.

Hey man – what a ride! It’s been a really cool six (almost seven!) years running shitontheradio.com, but regretfully I’ll have to shut her down.

Work commitments have really been the reason that I cannot keep this site running. Currently, I manage three commercial radio websites here in Toronto. The funny thing is the only reason I have this current career is because of the experience I have gained by building this website in 2000 about a little-known Canadian singer from Victoria, BC.

If Nelly hadn’t embraced and supported this website back then, I might not have had the motivation to keep the site going. Her support for shitontheradio.com is what really motivated me to keep learning about the internet and websites. So much has changed since then… I was using a homestead site builder tool and taking photos with my film camera – getting them developed at the local grocery store and then dashing home to get them scanned for the website!

It’s funny how things work out. This was pretty much my first crack at making a website, so it was really great to have some success. I went to university studying Economics and when I graduated, I got a job at a corporate bank, running SOTR in my spare time. The bank gig was… how shall I say… unfulfilling.

Running this website helped me switch my career when the opportunity presented itself. I took a risk and ditched my comfy job at the bank and jumped into the internet / radio industry. And contrary to what they say, the grass is green on the other side. Now, I love what I do. So really, I owe my beloved career to Nelly Furtado and the support I received. Thank you.

Thank you to many of the label reps from DreamWorks that helped me out. I did get to manage the official website, nellyfurtado.com – but that was short-lived when DreamWorks Records unfortunately folded. Thanks to current and former staff at Chris Smith Management. (No, I’m not a stalker! You guys can relax). I’ve also made many friends (and websites) with Nelly’s band members. You guys are all “heavy!”

But most of all I want to thank all of Nelly's fans who visited SOTR, wrote concert reviews, took photos, emailed me news stories, and donated to charities (like TLC and tsunami relief) on behalf of SOTR. I’ve got to know many of the fans over the years and I sincerely thank you all for your support. Seeing how much fans enjoyed sharing their stories through this website was one of the best feelings in the world. You guys were always the driving force for me to give my best effort all the time.

I've paid a lot of money out of my pocket to keep this site running and I'm proud to say there has never been an advertisement on this site. Hmm..maybe that's why I couldn't cut it in the financial industry?

Fortunately there are really amazing websites like BITS out there that are doing amazingly well. As many fans know, you're in good hands with Joey. I would like to apologize for keeping this site online for so long without any updates. I guess I thought in the back of my mind that I could hang on and keep it alive - squeeze in some time to update it… but I now know, that I’ll have to let it go. I guess all good things come to an end.

Well, that message is indeed quite touching, especially the 'i guess all good things come to an end' part. SOTR.com was a good site, which always provided us, fans, good media files and reviews.

Wow.... SOTR was the original site to go to for news. I Remember when it was back on Homestead hosting and now its done? This is too sad..
