I think people go a little over the top to be honest. Whenever someone cries "passive smoking!" I just roll my eyes. It's like someone was smoking three metres from you for 30 seconds and now you're going to get cancer and they've just given you a deathwish so they're killers.

All the anti-smoking propoganda is stirring up all this unnecessary hatred for smokers. I always feel sorry for people that have everyone yelling at them to stop smoking and trying to throw away their cigarettes, etc and try to stick up for them. It's just gotten ridiculous here.

Smokers are not some kind of enemy. Just leave them alone. They're not harming you, gimme a break. Unless they're blowing it right in your face or something, I'm sure you'll live.

Everyone knows that it isn't exactly the healthiest thing and causes all kinds of problems. Yes it is pointless for most people, but serves a purpose for others. It costs a mint, which has become a big reason for a lot of people to quit.

I don't smoke because I don't wanna be unfit, coughing, broke and addicted, but I've done so and I don't consider it the devil. I also smoke cigars from time to time as well.

I wouldn't like to be married to someone who smokes and I of course draw the lining at smoking during pregnancy that's just ludicrous. Otherwise I'm not too concerned and not turned off by the fact someone smokes or how they taste. I think I'd prefer not though.

I think it's a total waste of money to spend your money on cigarrates. It's just that god I mean you work hard to earn a certain salary and what you could save or use it for another thing that could be more productive for you and gets you a benefit a person spends it just to buy some cigarrates

I understand that they are not different from regular people. I wear contacts and the smoke bothers my eyes. Thats why I dislike the smell/stuff so much.

Understood. I'm not saying you're all whingers for complaining about someone smoking or something. I sympathise, and in excessive smoke I empathise. I'm more directing comments at people who treat smokers like criminals over a little bit of smoke I guess.

Here in Holland, the tax the government collects from cigarette sales exceeds the money spend on smoking related health care by more than 3 : 1( estimate, as it is hard to determine what is related to smoking). The government will never admit it, but if everbody stopped smoking all of a sudden, they would have a financial problem. A packet of 20 cigarettes has a retail price of ? 4,00 which equals $ 4,80 , most of that is tax.
