Server space please..

Does anyone know where my friend and I could get some space for our websites. We know how to work FTP...We need space because Geocities changed and frames won't work now.

http://www.geocities.com/tithe_rpg is Ash (friend) (I also work on it)
and http://www.geocities.com/amatictlc is mine..

Please do not visit the sites enless you like wolf RPG's, TLC, or are checking to see how much webspace we use. Geocities has extremely limited bandwidth

We could upload pictures and SH*T on photobucket or some SH*T like that and if we do upload pics. on the server..it won't be much, just some small files. Most of our SH*T in our file manager are just page files anyhow.

If you know of any fansites that have thier own server or can give us server space...please tell us by replying to this topic or PMing me.

for FTP, all you have to do is do the HTML on notepad, save it as a notepad file. Then..save it as an htm or html file and upload it..you have your page, right?

for pics www.imageshack.us could be a good place but for space dunno, I hate free hosts cause they have really limited bandwitch!

If you have a fast internet connection, you can also put a server at your home
It can be an old pc, it only have to serve webpages.

I have one too, and for my site it's working fine (it's not a busy site and a 100 kbps upload)

And other you must rent webspace for a couple of dollars a month...

Most free probiders have banners/popups, data limits and not much webspace

I would like to make my own linux ftp server, I've downloaded Debian and now I just have to piece together a computer to do it. I suppose I could just use a KVM switch to run both boxes...

I think that would be the best way, other than paying a provider for webspace. granted you have a high speed connection and are not hosting many ppl at once.

well, if you want your site to look semi-professional and "official", there's only one option: buy webspace.. Joey did it for BITS, I did it for NellyCentral, and lots of other people did it for their own fansite. Relying on free webspace is the worst thing you can do if you want a good website...

Also, the people who bought their webspace won't be so eager to give you some space, just for the sake they have paid for it. So I think it will be difficult to find reliable free webspace...
