A concert played by R&B/Pop singer Nelly Furtado in Moscow, Russia was marred by a stage fight after Russian rapper Timati tried to get on stage to perform a planned set with her.

Venue officials reportedly halted Timati from going near Furtado, leading to Nelly's security team becoming involved in an altercation.

The incident quickly descended into a brawl reportedly involving up to 20 people.

Nelly carried on singing to try to divert attention from the fight, which eventually ended with some of the crowd getting covered in blood and Timati losing a tooth.

"I know who was behind it. They will be punished," Timati reportedly said of the incident.

Timati is a huge celebrity in Russia and owns a club and a record label.

An official at the venue said: "We learned at the last moment he was going to perform with Furtado. I gave the order not to let him get on stage."

There's this music blog I always read. It's amazing, how this person let's you into her life and her music choices. And today I found this amazing post:

You know how sometimes you can get so close to a person that you can hear their thoughts? Old married couples do this a lot I’ve noticed…they finish each other’s sentences and know exactly what the other wants for dinner without asking. They’re in sync with one another; they’re connected in a way that’s rare and special. Friends do this too I suppose in smaller ways and on different levels and sometimes I think that it must happen because of the sheer amount of time that’s spent together in close proximity but mainly I don’t think that’s it…not the type of connectedness I’m talking about. I’m talking about the bond that causes someone to just inherently KNOW that someone else is thinking of them…that causes him or her to just KNOW and feel that the other person is still lying in bed awake even from miles away, that just hears so many things that go unspoken. It’s the type of connection born of deep, abiding love that only grows over time, right? Maybe not. Lately I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s really not that at all. Maybe I’ve been wrong about that theory all this time. Maybe it’s just born into souls…that link, that bond. And maybe that’s what people really mean when they speak about soul mates. I’ve never been one to subscribe to all the frilly feel good notions about love…I’m quite the cynic in fact. And yet I find myself looking at love and relationships through anything but a cynical pair of eyes these days. And I’m not sure if I want to be sickened by it and run away from that which makes me alter my stance or stand staring at a new truth like a deer caught in headlights, resigned to my fate of being run over on a dark road by someone careless behind the wheel. Neither scenario really seems all that appealing to me at the moment and I fear I stand to lose a great deal that I can’t get back either way.

But I digress…

I bring all this up because I am wholly connected to someone and they’ve passed on this wacky little “gift” to me it seems and I can’t shake it or get rid of it and I’m not sure that I really want to. As much as I love music and as much as it’s a big part of my life, I don’t wake up with a song in my head every day. I don’t typically carry a tune with me throughout the day either. Every great once in a while I’ll get a chorus stuck in my head for days on end but it never really amounts to much and there’s no deeper meaning behind it other than it’s catchy or I heard it in the grocery store or while stuck on an elevator somewhere. Those songs don’t mean much to me but the songs that I wake up with now (after saying “Oh I wish I did that!” like an IDIOT) mean something. I can dissect them and listen with new ears and try to understand a new and different perspective on things. It’s like someone giving you a key to a door they keep locked…a room they either have never let anyone into or rarely let anyone into because it’s all messy and cluttered and there’s nowhere to sit and saying, “Go ahead and spend some time in there…I trust you not to judge me.”

It’s fairly remarkable really…when someone is willing to let you inside their dark spaces. I’m finding it even more remarkable how quickly they will want to lock you out again the minute you start to turn the lights on. It’s scary to be made vulnerable. It’s frightening to let someone inside and it always seems easier to keep the locked doors locked and to surround yourself with those people who are satisfied just knowing the parts of you that you’re comfortable exposing. You know the people I’m talking about…the ones that care but not too much, that stay but for the wrong reasons, those people that hear but don’t listen…the ones that need to jump ship instead of riding out the storm. The people whose company you enjoy but who don't inspire you to become more, who don't bring out your light and who don't give you space or cause to grow. And there are lots of those people in the world to be found. You can find them just about everywhere you look. They’re good people, solid people but not amazing people…not one in a million people. And when you find those people, you’re supposed to hold on tight…with both hands. Right?

I digress…again.

I told ya all that just to tell ya this…some of these songs that I'm waking with are really good songs. Songs that I have forgotten about, songs that I’ve heard in passing and haven’t given a chance and songs that I just haven’t ever given proper credit to. It’s the oddest thing these songs I hear upon waking. So I figure I’ll share them from time to time here so that maybe someone else out there can get to know them a little better too.

This morning Nelly Furtado was singing "Try".

And by day's end I knew exactly why. We all try to do the best we can for the people we love. We try to be more, better, different. And all the while we fail to realize that mostly they already love us for everything we are and in spite of all that we are not. And that's the truth.

Is that amazing and exactly right or what?

Fergie Takes On Nelly Furtado In Badminton, Dodgeball, Jet Racing In New Wii Sports Game

The wait to discover who can paddle a canoe faster � Fergie or Nelly Furtado � is almost over.
The eternal debate about whether Boston Celtic Paul Pierce can spike a volleyball better than country music sensation LeAnn Rimes or LeAnn Rimes will soon be settled.

Video game publisher Electronic Arts has revealed to MTV News that a new holiday-season Nintendo Wii game, "Celebrity Sports Showdown," will settle these arguments � or at least present a virtual forum with which to do so.
Modeled after the hit "Wii Sports" and developed by the creators of another mini-game compilation, "EA Playground," the new EA title will allow up to four players to control a set of celebrities in activities that range from the bizarre (inner-tubing) to the more bizarre (fighter-jet racing). The game's dozen activities will also include slalom skiing, dodgeball, "smash badminton" and curling, each featuring the aforementioned celebrities, plus soccer star Mia Hamm, country singer Keith Urban or Keith Urban, boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, ice-skater Kristi Yamaguchi and more.
The game is meant to be played by a group of people using a single Wii. It's a party game, starring the A-to-C-list.
How Fergie-like is video game Fergie? Each celebrity appears in big-headed cartoonish form. They look like themselves � Fergie's got the right outfit, down to the tiara � but athletics-wise they're all the same. Fergie is as strong as football player Reggie Bush. Rimes is just as fast as Furtado.
At a recent demonstration of the game for MTV News, an EA representative explained that none of the celebrities would have special abilities. The reason Yamaguchi obliterated Fergie, Pierce and one other celebrity in a race of speedboat-drawn inner tubes? One player knew how to make Yamaguchi avoid mines and hit the proper items for extra points and boosts of speed. It's all in the deft handling of a Wii remote.
Like "Wii Sports" and many other popular games of the type, each game in "Celebrity Sports Showdown" is controlled a little differently. Controlling the inner tubes involves holding the Wii remote at its short end and tilting it to steer. Hoisting then slamming down the remote allows a player to bounce one celebrity's inner tube out of the water and onto another's. The fighter-pilot game, based on the well-received paper-airplane flying game of "Wii Playground," according to one of the games' developers, involves holding the Wii remote vertically like a joystick.
Previous Wii party games, like "Wii Sports" and "Carnival Games," let users control avatars that looked like themselves or anyone else whose likeness they could replicate. Being able to control an officially licensed celebrity instead is new, at least at this scale. One-off celebrity cameos have been common in games at least since the '90s when Bill Clinton was a hidden unlockable baller in "NBA Jam." On Wednesday, EA announced Kim Kardashian as a playable fighter in the company's upcoming "Facebreaker" boxing game.
EA's "Celebrity Sports Showdown" is a Wii exclusive. It's set to ship this holiday season.
