Female reporter: "Success in Vancouver before, during and after the olympics. Its a singer who mix Canada and Portugal, weird right? But it worked really well, the singer Nelly Furtado, the voice who opened the Winter Olympics with Bryan Adams, is daughter of portuguese but was born in Canada. She even speaks portuguese, loves her brazilian fans and she talked exclusively with us."

Male reporter: "The name of this song is Bang the Drum. 60 thousand people at the stadium, 3 billion people at home around the world, they all obeyed the order of causin Nelly. They banged the drum. Nelly Furtado is the biggest sensation of canadian pop, she sold 20 million discs and at the opening cerimony for the Winter Olympics, it was all about her."

Reporter: Nelly, what's left of Portugal in you?
Nelly: Portugal is a big part of me, my parents were born in the Azores but I was born in Canada, so I'm canadian, but also portuguese. My soul and my heart are portuguese.

Reporter: Do you like fado?

"Sitting in the interview, Nelly demanded that her legs wouldn't be filmed. At the stage, there's no way to avoid it, thank God. She'll comeback to Brazil in march."

About to release an english album, portuguese-canadian Nelly Furtado arrives in Brazil to promote her spanish repertory. And portuguese album is on the line.

Change language and style like you change your clothes is something regular for the canadian Nelly Furtado who arrives in Brasil in march, for her Mi Plan concert, with spanish songs. But the 31 year old singer daughter of portuguese knows her hot-ass side, singing in english is undefeatable. With her hip hop release Loose (2006), she sold more than 10 million albums and her hits Promiscuous and Say it Right took Billboard over dominating the #1.

With her fifth album, she goes back to Shekespeare's language. Nelly says she wants to mix her influences from her previous albums. Lifestyle is set to be released in may "Its going to be my first fully english release", she says, by phone to Billboard Brasil. "Half of it its ready and its not a one-producer album. We have 10 songs finished, says Nelly, mixing portuguese and english on the interview.

She confirms the participation of Salaam Remi and dutch Dj Tiesto. Timbaland and Ryan Tedder are also rumored. After the return for a english release, she plans to risk herself on her first portuguese release. "It will be recorded in Portugal, but maybe with brazilian artists like Caetano Veloso with whom I've worked before" she tells, reminding she used to sing "Sozinho" on her concerts. She also says she's a fan of female brazilian singers. "I like Marisa Monte's voice, she has brasility on her performances. Daniela Mercury inspires me. They're definitely role models for me."

Nelly started her career in 2000 with her hit I'm Like a Bird and she admits she owns a lot to this song and that it does't feel like she's singing it for 10 years already.

"The most important thing is the song. You can sing now or in 20 years. If its a good song, that's what matters. But I'm always changing its arrangement" explains Nelly.

The way she sings, she reveals, also changed thanks to tracks like Manos Al Aire. "My music is my school. After recording an album in spanish, I changed my way of singing in english, with more passion. I'm a pop singer. My music background is diverse." she defines.

Being a promiscuous girl - culturaly speaking - does't hurt anyone.

40 vocalists and performers to record K'naan single Wavin' Flag

Canadian musicians are waving the Maple Leaf for Haiti, secretly recording a benefit single for the earthquake-ravaged country.
Famed Canadian music producer Bob Ezrin is spearheading the project, which will include Somalian-born Canadian rapper K'naan, performing the K'naan hit song Wavin' Flag .
The recording is taking place Thursday at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, which was founded by Bryan Adams.
The new Olympic anthem-in-the-making was recorded on the fly amidst all the excitement of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
�They've pulled this together so quickly,� Adrienne Kakoullis of Holmes Creative Communications said Thursday afternoon. �They're in the studio right now.�
Although details are still sketchy, she confirmed that about 40 Canadian vocalists and performers had gathered to record a new version of the song Wavin' Flag .
Bryan Adams, Nelly Furtado, Feist, Nickleback, Emily Haines, Ron Sexsmith and Colin James are just a few of the Canadian performing artists currently in Vancouver for the Olympic Games who may have lent their voices to the super-group recording which sounds similar to We Are the World , the 1985 charity single for African famine relief. Diana Krall is also in town, as is Broken Social Scene.
�All of Canada's best to record @iamknaan's Wavin' Flag for Haiti in Van City tomorrow!� reads a post that went out on Twitter yesterday.
Mr. Ezrin, who is producing the Wavin' Flag project, worked on Pink Floyd's album The Wall . He recently made a new album with Peter Gabriel and owns the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver.
The afternoon session was videotaped for a possible future television broadcast by John Brunton of Insight Productions, the Toronto production company behind Canadian Idol and Battle of the Blades .
�I'm not at liberty to discuss it at the moment,� said Mr. Brunton said by phone on Wednesday, confirming that he was indeed in Vancouver to film a major project.
�I'll probably have a better opportunity to talk about it tomorrow,� he added. �I'm muzzled.�
Wavin' Flag will also be featured as the anthem for this year's World Cup in South Africa. K'Naan sang the same song at Canada For Haiti , a broadcast telethon that raised $13.5-million for Haitian quake victims last month.
A similar broadcast telethon, Hope For Haiti , brought Madonna, Coldplay, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake and U2's Bono together in live performances from London, New York and Los Angeles.
In Vancouver, two local radio stations, Red FM and Radio India, have raised more than $1.5-million through individual listeners who came out in droves to pledge donations for quake-torn Haiti.
Rumours of the project began swirling last week when K'naan posted this message on Twitter: �Coming soon: Me & Bob Ezrin (producer of Pink Floyd's The Wall) are working on something epic! But u didn't hear from me ok?�
The Toronto-based hip-hop musician wrote: �Sadly, leaving Peru already but heading to Vancouver to do something that'll hopefully help some lives in need.�
Proceeds are to go to Free The Children, War Child Canada and World Vision.

Those days were so awesome. I was 16. Young. My life was seemingly more eventful. Summer of 2006 = The Hottest Summer in Detroit. *Sighs* Loose was such a better era than we made it out to be. MIAMI, 12 de febrero /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- La Cadena Univision anunci� que m�s estrellas de alrededor de las Am�ricas, representando diferentes g�neros musicales y sectores de la industria del entretenimiento se dar�n cita la semana que entra en la esperada gala de Univision "Premio Lo Nuestro a la M�sica Latina(R)", la entrega de premios a la m�sica Latina con m�s trayectoria y de mayor sinton�a en la televisi�n.

Transmitida en vivo y, por primera vez en su historia, en alta definici�n (HD) el estelar evento contar� con la participaci�n de las estrellas de la exitosa novela de Univision "Sortilegio", el gal�n William Levy y la actriz Jacqueline Bracamontes, as� como el �cono musical Gloria Estefan, los reyes de la bachata el grupo Aventura, la diva del pop Paulina Rubio, la cantautora Nelly Furtado, el s�per grupo de merengue Grupo Man�a, la cantante y actriz Eiza Gonz�lez, el d�o de reggaet�n Wisin y Yandel, el mexicano artista de pop Aleks Syntek, la reina del pasito duranguense Diana Reyes, el actor y ex-miembro de RBD Cristian Ch�vez, el artista de m�sica urbana Franco, "El Gorila", la actriz Marjorie de Sousa y las estrellas de Univision Mario Kreutzberger (Don Francisco), Lili Estefan y Ra�l Gonz�lez, entre otros.
