Smile Return of Whoa, Nelly!

First off Whoa, Nelly is by far my favorite album, That being said I'd like to know if any of you think she will bring that style back on her upcoming albums. I don't think any of the others compare to that one, such originality. People say she sold out, I don't believe that I just think she has to change to keep afloat. While I enjoy her other albums I am wondering if now she can come back to Whoa, Nelly in a following album now that she has cemented her status as a great singer. So what do you guys think?? Its funny how some Nelly Furtado fans that I've come acros don't realize she had Whoa, Nelly andthe few that I've talked to don't enjoy it as much. Again appealing to the masses!! What do you guys think??

I really liked Whoa Nelly..it's a great album and really original..but i don't think nelly will go back maybe just a little...because an artist always try to do new things..and whôa nelly is great but she can't do always the same..i'm really curious what she will do with the spanish album..what kind of beats she will use..can't wait anymore ^^

Re: Return of Whoa, Nelly!

Hopefully she will just sing in just regular pop. Like Belinda, but still have a latin beat like in Shakira's La Tortura. But I also agree that she will probably not pursue a sound like in Whoa, Nelly! But who knows.

Jadore will become famous soon enough
Re: Return of Whoa, Nelly!

I think she will change up her style again. Each album has consistenly been different than the one before and I anticipate that the next one will follow that pattern. However because of the success that Loose has garnered she might take this sound and run with it because she knows so many people are liking it.

i agree here, mostly. i hope that she doesnt keep making the same kind of music like on Loose just b/c she gets the big whole audience. i hope she keeps reinventing herself, which would open her up to new music and it will also open her up to new fans. it will also open her original fans (that's us lol) to new styles.

Re: Return of Whoa, Nelly!

Whoa Nelly iz my least favourite album of the 3.
So.....
i really dont want her to make any more songz like that CD.
More like Folklore or Loose should be on her next CD because i think more people like those 2 albums over the first one.

^_^

Re: Return of Whoa, Nelly!

Yeah, her first album was by FAR much better than her others, folklore was ok, and loose is good for the occasional dance song, its a good album beat wise that can make you dance. but whoa nelly was for sure the best overall album.
I doubt she will go back to that though, which is sad. But i hope she does a more acoustic album next time. i think a more instrumental/vocal album would be great. something quality like that.

Re: Return of Whoa, Nelly!

Hard to say, WN was her breakout album, but as is usual, only a couple of tracks actually got BIG airplay, but that didn't really matter as WN established Nelly as someone to look at and take seriously in the music-world.......

As we all know, Folklore was the follow-up album and my God, but it was a good album, even if it didn't generate the sales mngt wanted. The style was all Nelly, a mix of influences that detailed her creative ability, showed off her maturity and a willingness to do music that was outside the run-of-the-mill pop music that infests radio like a plague, (imo)

Loose, well, what can I say, you like it or you don't, (I don't)........

Loose has a mix of tracks, some good, some bad, the rest pretty mediocre...... It caters for commercial radio and basically, it's an album that could be successfully marketed for any number of singers, Kelly Clarkson, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Simpson, even Pink or Beyonce Knowles could be behind this album as there's nothing about it that stands out as a Nelly Furtado record, (again... purely my opinion and as I said at the start, I'm not a fan of this record, even though I went out an bought it almost as soon as it was released, why, coz I'm a Nelly fan).... All in all, Loose is a marketing managers dream

I'm hoping that the Spanish/Portuguese album will be a return to the older Nelly, (if it ever happens), but I don't think we'll ever see another WN as Nelly herself has grown past it, time moves on and Nelly isn't a teenager anymore................

However, if Madonna and Xtina Aguilera can reinvent themselves and their music, I'm sure that Nelly can do likewise, (providing she's allowed to by record company mngt), and as a Nelly fan, I'll be like the rest of you, lining up to get the newest album

Re: Return of Whoa, Nelly!

Whoa, Nelly! is my favourite album too. It's so unique and it just feels.. vibrant and youthful! It's what got me into Nelly, and it's still the album I listen to the most.
