Portuguese Tart
Does anyone have a good recipe for these? One of my favorite sweets ever!!
I know I could get a recipe off the net somewhere, but I was hoping that someone could give me one that they have used. Maybe it comes with a history? I love recipes with a history! There are some Portuguese members on these boards I know!!! Please can you share your recipe for these sweeties!! |

WHAT WHAT WHAT? Sark, I think we are talking about different Portuguese tarts!
No apples Nellysman, but glad to hear you like my fruit! I went to this old neighbourhood today, where there used to be this Portuguese bakery...they made these tarts so warm and fresh and sweeeet. Then they closed. These tarts are so hard to get. Then I found a new place but they didn't bake them themselves....so they were always really stale.yuck . Then even they stopped selling them, so I am back to no portuguese tarts |

Yep those are the ones!
Couldn't read the first link but the pics were good, the second 'sugar high friday' sounded good but the results didn't look right. In the last shot the custard looked really yellow. And while I give the cook top marks for trying, I don't think they cooked PT before. The custard is usually a soft lemony colour with burnt bits on top. (Burnt bits are the best b/c they are soo sweet) |
