Politics and a Coke!
Hello everyone, since the British General Election thread was closed, I thought we could get down and dirty political talk in here! lets start off with the Aids crisis: how to fund research and stop it! Then whoever wants to start any other political subject can start one here, feel free to use up as much post space as posible to have your views heard. NOTE: personal attacks will not be tolerated and brushed off as an opinion! this is a issues debate not a personal vendetta thread! so that means no American bashing and stereo typing us! or any other groups or counrtys! have fun posting political raves!!!

Re: Politics and a Coke!
yeah, exactly. My opinon on America is MY opinion, just like I have opinions on Russia, Germany, or any other country. And when I am told I cannot discuss the politics of one country, I shall not discuss politics at all.

), I dont dont bash your jerkwater country you dont bash mine ok! you are allowed to bash countrys like North Korean regimes! ok! that way nobody is a double speaker! I want open opinions without making sombody feel like shit for speaking up on a subject that tends to be done alot by people who are fed nasty information on subjects, I try to be nice and open a free speech thread and all I do is get personally attacked by people who want to act better than me(dosent bother me but it bothers some), I cant help it America is the richest country in the world and lots of other countrys are jelious of us and without America a lot of peril would come about. sorry my thread offended you, I hope we can be friends ![]() |

Re: Politics and a Coke!
Is America really the richest country in the world? I wouldn't say so. Millionaires and homeless people. That is the impression I get. And I'm aware there are people that are quite well off as well. I would say Norway is the richest country in the world. You don't see any homeless people there, there are no class distinctions, everything is nice and clean there, and Norway doesn't take part in wars. People get paid more or less equally. So there.
Why am I allowed to talk about North Korea and not America. And I use the words "talk" or "discuss" since I am not interested in bashing, which doesn't seem to be the case with you since you made it clear it is alright to bash Noth Korea. Why is America better than North Korea? Nations of different countries have different views on how the country should be governed. Who are you to say what is right and what is wrong when things in that particular country have been that way for ages? You mind your business, and they mind theirs. I don't see America as "the great saviour" or whatever, and never will. To me America is just another country that should mind their own business or that should listen to what other countries have to say as well, not dive into things on their own when it comes to things that affect other nations. Also, when you state your opinion, there is no need for offensive wording. It seems like you are attacking people here, not vice versa. Thank you.

Re: Politics and a Coke!
Is everyone stupid??? politics has no place in non-political forums. it just causes people to moan stuff like "why you vote bush" "bush is a nob",etc.
When me and other people who live in UK talk about UK politics we just talk and understand other peoples ideas but we dont force and agrue about it like alot of other pple do. i'm just saying. Its Joey's and the admin's call, just look at the posts so far. Quote:

And, not to be offensive, but your generalization of America is ignorant. Whether that's due to the media or just your personal opinion, I don't know. Whatever. Yes, there are rich people in America, just like there are rich people everywhere and yes, there are poor people in America, just like there are poor people everywhere. It's life, it's going to happen. Just because you don't see homeless people in Norway doesn't mean there aren't any, they're just more discreet. And people getting paid equally seems like a good idea in theory, but personally, I don't agree with it. Should a surgeon get paid the same as a cleaner for the sake of political correctness? No. People should get paid in relation to the skill level and importance of their job, it's only fair. Oh, so Norway doesn't take part in wars? That doesn't make it better than anywhere else, that just means that they don't have anything worth fighting for. An attribute worth boasting about? I think not. Also, the cleanliness thing...big deal. There are cleaner places than Norway...Japan for example. America is not a dirty place, I don't know where you got that idea, but it's wrong. Not to be offensive, Merilen, but your post was childish, ill-informed and, quite frankly, laughable. Like I said, no offense. It's nothing personal. And, "so there"? How old are you? 5? Really. I hate it when people try to be knowledgeable and talk shit about things that they just don't know enough about to be saying what they're saying. It just makes them look stupid. Stop it. I'm not the most intelligent person when it comes to politics and I'll be the first to admit that and that's why I don't spout off about politics at every given opportunity.

Re: Politics and a Coke!
When me and other people who live in Holland talk about politics we keep talking untill we understand eachother. (understand, not agree!) its called poldermodel and I like it. please dont come just to say you want this topic closed. why do you want us not to discuss? If you're not interested just dont show up here.
And i think bashing is not the same as saying precisely for what reason you think somebody or some group of people is short-sighted, arrogant, or whatever! Maybe I shouldnt have used the word dumbasses in the other topic but for the rest i think its a clean post! about north-korea...any system will work, even without a dictator, as long as 100% of the people agree about everything. this is impossible of course (in korea because of a very natural thing in our thoughts and behaviour called capitalism) but it would make politics very easy of course! Another very natural thing is hate, hating whoever is not like you, and how further away qua thoughts, how more you hate them. And propaganda is a strong means of course. And the best example is US <--> N Korea. Quote:
bwt surgeons equal income to socialworkers..no way i have to study for 12 years, i'll be 30 when i can start working, it costs me lots of money, and i just wanna earn it all back later. Besides there's also the responsibility-grade of the work and the everyday stress, a gardener can miss some grass in the corner but a doctor can't miss a tumor in one's gut! This system is no more or less than logical. |
