Nice story from Rebecca Eckler
Canadian writer Rebecca Eckler didn't mean to push Nelly Furtado's kid out of the way.
But the pop star's little girl, Nevis, was trying to sit down next to the birthday kid at the child's fourth birthday party. And the birthday kid is the best friend of Eckler's daughter Rowan. . "I didn't exactly bodycheck Nevis. It was more of a nudge," Eckler writes in her new book. "It was also unfortunate that it was Nelly Furtado's toddler because I'm a celebrity whore and I kind of wished my daughter could have become fast friends with Nevis, so I could become fast friends with Nelly Furtado and then meet Timbaland and go to the Grammy Awards. "If only I had offered Nevis a chair, instead of stealing one from her, Nelly would have thanked me and we'd be partying together right now." Um. Yeah. For the record, Eckler is a huge fan of Furtado's work. And no, Eckler didn't then hit up Furtado for an interview. Or even discuss the star's songs. "I felt it was off-limits at the time," she says during an interview. "I couldn't even say 'I love your music,' because we were there for a four-year-old birthday party." ... And no, her own books haven't been officially optioned for films. But if they were turned into movies, who would Eckler pick to play her character? "Natalie Portman," she says without a moment of hesitation. "And Coco Cox, Courtney Cox's daughter, could play Rowan. "And Nelly Furtado, for sure, to do the soundtrack. Or she can play me if she wants. She can act. She did a guest appearance on CSI." But would Furtado push someone's kid off a chair at a birthday party? That question remains to be answered. .
