NEW YORK AUDIO AVAILABLE ON THE HUB!

Ok, I saw Nelly live on May 12th and had the time of my life...The review will come later!

So I started to look for tour audio and I came here and saw gloco's post how he has the audio from NYC. Well since he only sent it to 20 people ( or something like that, I don't know cause I just joined) I started looking for it on the hub. After no luck on the hub's I usually go to I started looking for hub's that have live shows...and I have found this one...

The problem is is that they are huge and that they are in the SHN format....I have no idea what that is!!!

Hey there, glad to see someone is using dc around here, download a programme called mkw from www.etree.org, this programme can convert shn files to wav files, just read the instructions in the programme window and you'll read how to convert shn>wav. Plus, make sure to download all the shn's, txt file and .md5 file. What's a md5 file? Basically, you click on it and mkw opens up and verifies each and every shn file to make sure they are complete and not corrupt.

I don't think you need a password for any of them. Just a word of caution, do not share any mp3's or other junk, strictly shn or flac files only. How to get started? Download some stuff from me, I share all the recordings I make with my taping rig, including my Nelly show from town hall, my uploads cap at 120KB/sec, so you can download this show in a few hours (depending on your download speeds). This programme is relatively easy to setup (choose a nickname, etc etc).

nope, shn files are data files basically, so if you tried to burn shn to a cdr as audio, all you would hear is noise.

Some burning applications automatically transfer shn to wav files though, some don't. With a programme called mkw, you can convert shn files to wavs. Mkw can be found on www.etree.org

it takes a few minutes for mkw to work it's magic, you can also listen back to shn files on winamp with this plugin: http://www.etree.org/shnamp.html

The reason why shn is used is because it saves space by compressing the wav files but not messing up sound quality. The file size for the entire show in shn format is 503MB and in wav format it's 830MB.

it is really easy to conver the shn files to wav files, it takes about 5 seconds to do, and you keep the amazing quality of the files that gloco has been sharing.
And it's really cool cause now I have learnt something new!!
