Nelly's fans disappoint me

See what I'm saying about Tal sparking useful debates! I don't like the way she approaches it lol but I'm really interested after reading Orb's last post. I think there's a few people who aren't too thrilled with a few Nelly things and I guess nobody is ever thrilled with those who control her in a sense.

Also I disagree with the fans having to do the first bit to get artists well known somewhere. Just like Lynda said, one or could be plenty more people cannot spark up a huge following. She needs promo! People need to know she actually has an album out!!!! That's just not happening in Aus. People would buy her album just like Whoa Nelly if they could know she was around. ILAB got her noticed and sold her plenty of albums in Australia. This is what is so odd, she did awesome in Australia with her first album. This time there wasn't an ILAB to catch people's ears and so that was the end of it. Just like that.

Weird, I never realised that there was a problem of this fandom sort for some people. And yes I read that this thread was not targeting ALL of her fans. I never had a problem with the fan/Nelly relationship myself. I buy her stuff- I'll take some $2 singles to just show me where they are! I never found the Powerless or Try singles yet.

Anyhow, it's an iffy thing for demands to be thrown at either side. Though I've seen this more with die-hard fans of some other artists.

Nelly seems to be doing well lately though. This Juno award, mannyyy appearances (some right after the other) and the related travelling that comes with it - along with caring for a child. Me, I'd be stressed, so I gotta hand it to her.

not really, at least not here in New York--she's gotten almost no promotion. I've never seen her video on MTV or VH1, except for when they premiered a clip of Powerless on TRL. Actually though, on this one radio station 95.5PLJ, they played powerless a lot. I don't know how much they play Try though because I don't really listen to the radio. But besides that, there really is nothing. Hell, I didn't even know she was doing a show here until the day before tickets went on sale!

Same goes for my area ... at least, being it's a fairly small market. Speaking of radio ads, I did hear one, it was a promo of a giveaway for her Folklore CD. It was heard on a station located out-of-town but still within my area, back in November or so.

Far from being a hypocrite I think she had lots of guts admitting this at such a forum. She could have quite easily claimed she had always voted and who would know the difference.

The Australian fans that show continual support would travel anywhere in Australia to see her live. So quit complaining.

However, I can't help but notice you're ignoring the point I was making, and are trying to use this as your own platform to voice greivances.
My point is that people shouldn't complain about her not touring, when they're not willing to support her.
Sure, she isn't doing a show in Edmonton (you assume), but I'm sure she's doing at least one show in Canada.

I get the frustration too cause I'm Australian and I know exactly what Tal is saying. It is so hard when there is no real publicity etc. for Nelly, when all we do is ring the radio stations and demand that they play her singles and they are like Nelly who? Or ring her record distributors over here and ask them a million questions about what is going on with promotion for Nelly and stuff and they don't seem to care. Sometimes it feels like Lynda said, "being a one-person-promotional band for Nelly" and no-one is paying attention.

I have been on the other threads saying how much I would love for Nelly to come to Australia and bring her tour here - but if Madonna won't even do it (and she has been around in the music biz alot longer and is much more well known & publicised than our Nelly), then the odds don't look that good

I know that not everyone here on the boards might give the exact same level of support/fanship: they might not buy the maximum amount of singles available, or hassle people about it, but none of us would be a member of this board if they weren't a Nelly fan, right? Everyone will just do as they want to do - we can only do our best to support Nelly and hope that she will tour us soon, and be thankful for what we have got!

My complaint is only that people are complaining about her not touring, claiming they're massive fans and that Nelly has done a lot for them, but they won't even buy a $2 single, or even request a song.

Fair enough about your complaints - you're entitled to your opinions. I won't go that far cause I think you can't speak for others unless you know with certainty that they don't buy the singles or whatever, and I don't! I know single sales are down, but we can't go getting mad at just the Nelly fans!

Yeah Nova do play Nelly - but I have been trying to push her with Fox and Mix, not that I listen that much to them, but they only ever seem to play old Nelly or Powerless - I am trying to increase their repertoire so that more people can hear Nelly!

Motherhood comes first. It would be nice if she was more appreciative for fans, but I can't complain!
