Not all of them, obviously, but a lot of them. You'll know if this includes you or not, most of you, I hope, this rant doesn't include.

I'm sick of hearing people complain about Nelly not touring, when they're not willing to support her.
It takes a minute to request a song. It costs $2 to buy a single. Yet, obviously, this is too much for a lot of people. They'll take, take, take everything that they can get from Nelly, but they won't give anything back.
Think of everything Nelly has done for you - or you claim she has done for you. Think about the music she has delivered to you, the music you've discovered because of Nelly Furtado. Think about the effect that Nelly has had on your life; the people you've met because of her, the inspiration she has provided.

Think about that, then tell me she isn't worth $2 or a minute of your time.
Stop being selfish and give something back for once, and if you still think that's asking too much, you shouldn't call yourself a fan.

Hahahaha, what Nelly has given us? You've gotta be kidding. As far as artists go, well Nelly isn't exactly at the top of the list for fan appreciation. How many times has she posted on these or the SOTR boards? None you say? How often does she take ONE MINUTE to write a little note to her fans? Every couple months?

She's not making music to please all her fans, sorry to burst your bubble. She's making music to please herself and make a living, if she can please some people by doing so then it's all the better....especially if it means they will keep buying her merch.

I'm not saying Nelly doesn't appreciate her fans, but she could sure show it a little more.

Chromey

P.S. People do vote for Nelly, request songs, and buy her albums. I've only had the opportunity to purchase 2 albums here in Canada(we don't have singles here) but I've purchased over 20 copies of those 2 albums.

I must say, I only own her two albums, 2 promo cds, 2 concert tickets, and that's it!

isn't that enough? I mean, it doesnt really matter how successful she is right? Her music on her records won't change!!! Money isn't everything! I personally totally don't care about this whole "music business world" and the whole "fan"-thing is a joke in itself as well!

I live in....AUSTRALIA
I can't speak for Europe, or the US or Canada.
But unless she succeeds fiscally, then she doesn't continue to make music, and she doesn't tour. The music industry revolves around money. But how much is a phone call? It can be free to show support for Nelly.

And Chromey, Nelly doesn't leave messages? She does actually. Seriously though, many, many bands and artists don't interact with their fans, and they have every right to choose this path. However, Nelly hasn't chosen that path. But think about it, she has a life outside music - she has her own family now. That's her priority.
She doesn't make music for the fans? Does it matter who it's made for? If it effects you, if it says something to you, then that's enough. If it changes your life, then you should give something back.
The whole CD buying thing, as I said above, this is aimed at some people, not everyone. I understand why you wouldn't buy singles - but when they're in every single shop, and really cheap, you'd think these people that continually complain about her not touring would spend a bit of money on Nelly. If her own fans don't support her, then who should? That's my point, and it's aimed at those people.

There are many people out there that Nelly has effected in ways you might not know. Whether she intended it or not, it doesn't matter. If you make all these claims about her and how much you love her, but complain about her exposure and tour schedule, then all I ask is for you to look at yourselves.

BTW, Daniel, and Chromey, you are two of the people that this was definitely not aimed at.

Wel, I do all I can to support Nelly, I might not scream about it on here, but I buy the singles whenever I see them, purchase multiple copies of her albums, vote when I can, call/e-mail stations etc I agree with Tal about her family being her priority, I don't have any complaints with Nelly

I live in the U.S., and can speak for them. I support Nelly as much as I can. I buy her CDs when they come out (I have her two CDs -- Whoa Nelly and Folklore -- so far). I catch her on TV and tape her appearances as well. I would even pay the money to see Nelly perform live in concert.

The point is, I do what any fan does for his or her favourite artist, support her. Yes, Nelly does have a family now, and that's as important as (or even more important than) her music.

I haven't seen Nelly leave messages (except on nellyfurtado.com), and not all artists leave messages on fan site message boards. One exception is when Michelle Branch left a message on an MB fan site message board.

I'm still a fan, and I'm pretty sure Nelly does appreciate her fans.

silly-willy will become famous soon enough
I think you can defenitly show your appreciation to Nelly by buying all her singles and her cd's and concert tickets and magazines(like a lot of people on this board including me do). But if some fans choose not to do that and they just buy her album and listen to that day in day out. They are still fans mayby not in the way that some people on this boards are but in there own way and you can't blame them for doing it that way.
And as far as Nelly concerns she is not abondening us, why would she otherwise do stuff as going to ALL her fans that waited in the cold for hours after a show. Do meet and greets and anwser our questions on websites.

Nelly rocks!

I agree with this . . . I think it's one thing to go on your computer and vote for Nelly on TRL or something, but I personally don't see the point in buying singles--not just hers, anyone's. Unless it's an artist whose other songs I really don't like, but obviously, in the case of Nelly, I love her music and I don't see why I should buy a single when I have all of her actual CDS (that includes two copies of Folklore!).

I understand where your frustration comes from, but calling her selfish is going a bit far when you should think about the demands that you're making. As a fan, you expect her to make good music, be successful, go on tour to perform so that YOU can be happy, leave messages for us more often, post on this board, do interviews and performances, travel the world in order to do all this, AND take care of her new baby.

I personally don't expect anything more than good music and good concerts--it's obviously nice when an artist is more involved with his or her fans, and this is part of the reason why I'm a bigger Nelly Furtado follower/fan than say, Britney (besides the fact that she makes better music in my opinion). Sure, there are some musicians, like John Mayer, who are able to take the time and post on their boards, but every person is different and I think that with someone who's as big as Nelly Furtado, it's surprising that she even does take that time every couple of months to put up a message. So, as I said, I can see why you're frustrated, but before you start complaining about what Nelly is or isn;t doing, you should think about what your expectations of her really are.
