He's actually sounding better now. He didn't do so well on SNL or So you think you can dance, but he sounded like almost exactly like the song on CD USA and Jay Leno. MuchMusic his vocals weren't that great and that was probably because he was actually moving and not being so stiff so he sounded out of breath But I think he could do the end of Maneater well, it's just a few words over and over.

His vocals from the CD are played in the live performances, so you're hearing the studio vocals with a little bit of his microphone mixed in there, too. The performances where his mic is turned up the most audibly tend to be criticized the most. Coincidence?

Yeah I know his vocals are played, it's called a backing vocal. Oh well he is no singer. In the studio when recording he probably had as many tries as he needed to get it right, and then it's digitally enhanced, but of course not too much because Nelly said that they pretty much left everything the way it was.

??? Kinda contradicting your last post. I know what a backing track is, but your post made it seem like you didn't, saying he sounded almost like on CD. Anyhow...

I highly doubt anything was pretty much left the way it was. Sure doesn't sound like it. Practically every track in every song sounds super-processed.

I wasn't trying to contradict, he did sound the track on CD USA and Jay Leno, but I'm agreeing with you that he does use backing vocals, but I think it's only in the hook and not verses. So he still is singing and you can hear him. ut I'm just saying that of course in the studio he gets as many takes as he needs and then it's enhanced. That's normal. And Nelly said that everything wasn't touched up too much.
