Nelly is #1 on Napster's "One-derland" playlist.

So, this is when you say "YAY, THAT'S GREAT!!" and start jumping in circles, right? Yeah!!

Well, not quite.
It turns out that Nelly Furtado, with I'm like a bird, has been chosen by Napster.com as the top-of-the-list one hit wonder singer.
I find it funny, considering Nelly is everything but one hit wonder. So far she's had two hit songs in the US and plenty of them around the world.

That's what I call a total lack of musical knowledge.

You know, I used to think she was a one hit wonder. Only because her marketing in Europe is really poor , it was only by luck that I stumbled on Try (if I hadn't had my tv on right then I wouldn't know what great music she has, so obviously I'm very happy about that).

I haven't heard any other Nelly song on radio here than I'm Like A Bird, for all I knew it could've been the only single on Whoa. Nelly! It's crazy! I know many people who would love her music if they'd hear it. And some of her videos are incredible too, and match greatly with the song, I was very happy to watch Turn Off The Light video the first time when I also heard the song first time. Same thing with SOTR. Of course now I've heard the other's too.

You know, I hate when articles are written about what a disappointment Folklore was in terms of sales, but I guess the promotion for it wasn't that good either. I think Nelly must be huge in Canada, but what did they think, that the name alone will make her sophomore album sell well? I hope that she gets tons of promotion for Loose, and judging by all the posts in here it seems like it does.

I hate that too, obviously itwas only a disappointment sales wise, it's one of the most mature and profound albums out there in my opinion. I hear "Folklore" did too well in Canada, but at least in North Europe we didn't really hear about it. I've seen messageboards where people just happened to see Try video and loved it and considered it the best slow song of the year. Many people just didn't know that Folklore even existed - many still don't.

I have become aware that you have titled Nelly Furtado as a 'one hit wonder' for her hit 'I'm like a bird'. It was a big hit, yet I'm afraid to inform you that you have a complete lack of musical knowledge. 'Turn off the light' from the same debut album reached a higher position on billboard charts (#5) than 'I'm like a bird' did (#9), and was a bigger hit in the US. Also, her song 'Forca' off of her second album was an international hit, and was the theme song to the Euro Cup last year. Also, her latest single 'Promiscuous' is already on top ten lists everywhere, including MTV's TRL, and is on heavy rotation on Much Music here in Canada. So before you stamp somebody with that label, please do your homework. And all that information I just have you can be found on billboard's website, TRL's website, and on muchmusic's home site.
