My personal review [Stuttgart, 05.03.2007]

Okay, this is my personal review of the genious Nelly concert on Monday, the 5th of March 2007. Don't expect too much. I tried to take some photos with my mobile cam but you can't recognise anything
Furthermore I wanted to enjoy the concert instead of taking photos all the time. I hope you understand that.

Just consider it as a report of what I experienced the day when I went to a Nelly concert for the first time

I start quite early...

Monday, 2:30 am
I go to bed and try to sleep. Considering the date I'm too excited to sleep in fact but I try it anyways.

Monday, 7:40 am
The alarm clock of my mobile wakes me up with the SIR chorus
I have to go to school. (On Monday I have to go later, it's not that I can always sleep that long)
I have slept too less because I was too excited. But I'm not tired anymore guess why...because I was too excited =)

Monday, 9:20 am
Maths test, today of all days...
But it's okay. The test is quite easy (unexpected). Perhaps my excitement concerning this evening quickens me, haha =)

Monday, 3:15 pm
I can convince my informatics teacher to allow me to leave earlier due to the concert. The lesson is boring anyways.

Monday, ~4:00 pm
Long travel like each and every single day. I finally arrive at home.
I prepare myself and almost die of excitement.
I eat something, arrange my hair hundreds of times, wash myself, iron my chemise and change my clothes.

Monday, ~5:00 pm
I go for the train and hope that everything will go right. But no problem, the train arrived quite on schedule. For the first time today I have the time to breathe deeply. I notice that I calm down and my pleasant anticipation rises. I try to envision with an all-day-smile how the evening will be =)

Monday, ~5:50 pm
After having changed the train I arrive at the station. I remember how I looked up the way I have to walk on google earth

Monday, ~6:05 pm
Yay, I see a big digital label saying "Nelly Furtado". I'm quite pleased that she get's the regard she deserves.

Monday, ~6:10 pm
I almost walked past but then I recognised the big emblem of the Porsche-Arena. My heart beats faster again. I was so glad I started early enough, there was a crowd of perhaps 50 people more or less rowing up. But next time I'll even come earlier =)
Now it's time to wait and more time to observe the others which are waiting and even more time listen to their chats. I get some more or less interesting facts, some let me shake my head and let arise some slight forebodings which partly should be affirmed this evening. I evaluate there are a lot of fans who have just heard Nelly's newes singles and don't know that much about her past (songs). My estimation somehow gets validated by a small group which wondered about how Nelly's current album is named. They finally get to the conclusion that it's "Get Loose" because that's what they read on the ticket

Monday, ~6:30 pm
Those door stewards make a big deal out of it, open slowly the doors and make us think that we'd get in, soon.
I hear from some random people behind me that people already row up all the way down the ramp(I think it's approx. 100 m long?) and again I'm so glad that I not arrived half an hour later...

Monday, ~7:00 pm
Finally...we get in. In the crowd which more resembled a huddle than a row I try to get further.
When it's my turn I run to the toilets(I just drank half a litre of ice tea) and hurry up to get in.

Monday, ~7:05 pm
Finally my standup "seat" is secured. I'm in the second-fourth row(well, you can't name that a row, haha) perhaps 1,5 metres in front of the stage in the middle right. I'm excited and relaxed at the same time because I know I'd have to wait. The pause music slightly animates to nod, yet !
Again, I listen to what people talk about and watch the stage design as I can see it so far. I try to move further a little bit to get a better view (slowly of course )

Monday, ~7:50 pm
The light gets darker, the pause music muted and I excited for the 10000th time today. But I made the mistake to forget about the opening band.

Monday, ~8:20 pm
They were not that bad but neither that good. It was somehow better than waiting with the repeating over and over pause music but I want to see Nelly!

Monday, ~8:25 pm
It gets interesting. Saukrates is on the stage, which has more to do with Nelly than the opening band. But I have to wait more...
But some of his songs weren't that bad, either

Monday, ~8:45 pm
The annoying pause music starts again. But for this time I know, they won't make us watch yet another opening band. In the meantime I have arrived in the second-third row.

Monday, ~9:00 pm
Waiting gets annoying and a lot of the people boo. I don't know why. *shakes head*
Luckily, there were enough to arise the "Nelly! Nelly!"-chant which I also support impassionate and which - in my opinion - is far better than booing&piping.

Monday, ~9:05 pm
Finally, finally, finally. They turn off the light and everyone cheers.
I hear the beginning of "Afraid", the curtain falls and the recognisable beat of "Say it right" starts. And then I see her, for the first time of my live actually and in person =)

From the next two hours, I haven't that much information and time stamps, sorry. Nevertheless I'll tell you the most mentionable things. I hope I forget nothing. I assume, my brain sat out in order to let my heart&soul live the following moments and got reactivated not until the next days.

My personal highlights were "In God's Hands", "Try", "Stars" and "Crazy", which sometimes even gave me the heebie-jeebies. It was just beautiful when she sang that without dancing the whole time, without too much music in the background and with her touching voice. I'll probably never forget that =)
She was totally sweet. When she began "Try", someone must have said that Nelly is shy. She laughed and said "You said: You're shy, haha".
It was great how she was rattled and said: "You guys sound so great, we're gonna sing it twice" and she began once again after we stopped to cheer like hell after her comment, haha =)

Unfortunately, the audience was - to some extent - a little bit too demotivated at all. Not many were singing along =/
Where I stood there were not that much who were dancing and singing along. Two nice girls in front of me seemed to know Nelly better because they seemed to be as motivated as me. But in my opinion, the audience wasn't that good altogether, which was a pitty =/
Maybe it's just my subjective opinion but they stopped too early cheering (I'd have done it at least twice as long every time) and they also demotivated me dancing around. But I tried to ignore them and I had a grrreat time =)

haha, during "In God's hands" I waved my hand all the way through, not caring about hardly anyone in my region did it. =)

But there were two, maybe three situation where the vibe exploded. One was when the melody of "All good things" began. During that song I think everyone sang along and danced.
Almost the same goes for "Crazy". More people were singing "Crazy" than they were singing "Try", "For?a", "I'm like a bird", ...
I'm glad she included that song in her performance =)
Another moment, which I was quite glad about, was after she performed "Stars". Here she really got the applause she deserved. Now, it also belongs to my favourite songs =)

"Do it"! Without fail worthy of mention. The idea with these big feathers - maybe you have seen it in one of the vids or photos of other reviews - is just great. It was so cute how Nelly held it behind her back and danced with it.

And btw, "Give it to me" sounds great live.

Monday, ~11:00 pm
After the encore it's over. My muscles are quite tired due to my "seat without seat"
My mind is hopelessly overstrained in working up these last beautiful two hours. I'm all sweaty because I danced and cheered so much. And I'm just about to get a nice little cold outside. Luckily, I saw that the special underground line was waiting so I had not to walk through the cold. Finally able to sit down I still think of the last hours, a little bit sadly.
I would have liked so bad to turn back the clock to live that experience again. I listen to the chats of some fans who talk about which songs they liked most.

Tuesday, 1:00 pm
I arrive at home. This has been quite a day which will stay forever in my mind =)

Well, this has been it. The most is still in my heart and in my inner mind, so I can't tell you, unfortunately
It was a really unique experience. And I hope I'll be on lots of similar/better concerts of Nelly =)

Yes, I did.
Unfortunately, in my closer circle of acquaintances there are not that hardcore Nelly-fans like me =/

Ah, I forgot about something:

What I would have liked to be better:

The concert would have been better if Nelly sang some songs more:
I'd have loved at least SOTR, Explode, Somebody to love, What I wanted

What I'd have loved, too: A autograph session or rather a possibility to talk with Nelly =)

haha, yes...I know that

Aah, yet another thing I forgot. You know when Nelly does that gentle "Brrrrr..." sound like she's on a horse and wants to say "Whoa...Nelly!"?
No, in fact like she wants to calm down the horse...
I looooove that sound, and she did it once at the concert. I think it was right before "Stars"

Btw, here is that great Try-Scene:

(out of sync, but though...)

Unfortunately there are no complete vids of the Stuttgart concert on youtube =/
