My friends don't really care for her that much, but sometimes, they don't mind listening to her music, which is alright for me at least.

my friends never got a real taste of her. she gets very little airplay in NY. the only song they ever really played was I'm Like a Bird, which they hardly do anymore. everytime I'm out I'm listening to her CD and even when I'm going to bed she's on... so people are kinda forced to listen to her. she's grown on them

Some of my friends have no opinion. Others really like some particular songs, but "can't stand most of her stuff". Like one friend who loves Shit on the Radio and One Trick Pony but nothing else.

My best friend respects her and thinks she's talented, and I was sorta suprised to hear that from him. We always had totally similar musical tastes and love most of the same musicians, but would branch out differently at times and only disagree on a few musical choices. And since Nelly's labelled as "pop" I thought he'd assume she was another Xtina or Michelle Branch. (I'm usually pretty biased about pop too, but Nelly was a big exception.)
But he heard some of her stuff playing at a music shop and liked it.

my best friend is the one who originally got me into her . . . she had whoa nelly for a while and she had always told me how good it was, but I never wanted to listen to it because I won't lie, nelly sort of annoyed me--then something happened, I don't know, and obviously it's completely different now. the thing is, my friends don't hate her or anything, but they don't like her even close to as much as I do (except for one of my good friends, who has luckily shared most of my nelly-related experiences with me) . . . but then again, I tend to be very intense about things I like, such as Shaki and Nelly and turn them into obsessions, so I don't really expect my friends to like these people to the same extent that I do. but they respect nelly, they like some of her music (although everyone I know, nelly-haters included, absolutely love "Try") so I can't really complain too much.
