Let´s comment our opinions about it:

I found this on the net, quite hilarious to be honest:

1. Marriage, it´s like a bet to see who stops loving the other one first.

2. Don´t get marry, say her/him that you don´t wanna have sex anymore.

3. Since Marriage was invented, the women´s happiness depens of the men´s pocket

4. The best of the marriage is the divorce

5. Marriage is the death of romanticism.

6. ¿Are you happy or married?

7. The opportunity to be forever with the person you love.

8. The Marriage is so heavy that you have to carry it between three people.

9. Love is Blind, but Marriage open your eyes!

10. Marriage is a situation when a woman never gets what she was waiting for, and the man wasn´t waiting for what he gets.


I personally, find marriage such a hard commitment, you have to be really mature to do it, without hurring up but relaxing and thinking it really good!

Cuz you have to be with that person for the rest of your life, which is scarrying cuz when you see a person five times a week, or even everyday, you get to know some parts of it, but when you see him/her everyday and always (mornings, afternoons, at a party, in the bathroom, etc) that becomes kinda hard, maybe boring, so plane, and for me that´s one of the biggest reasons of divorces....

Human beings can´t always be doing and watching the same things, I´M NOT SUGGESTING TO BE UNLOYAL TO YOUR COUPLE, but that´s what most of the people do, and we have to accept it!

So let´s see what you guys think and say if you would ever do it, and which one of the phrases you like the most!!!

i agree the marriage it`s hard maybe i`m too young but i believe that it`s a hard step to take and the marriage it`s just for strong people (not me)

Haha, it's a sweet thread ... Azul, those where some hilarious ideas on marriage, so thanks for posting them I'm afraid they have a seed of truth to them... I'm also unsure of marriage, not just because I might get bored, but the other person might too. It's not a nice idea to think that someone would stay with you only because he/she is married to you, not because they want to... But it does work for some people, and they will be happily married for life, I know people like that too. You would have to be really sure though, that it is the person you really want to share your whole life with, otherwise it seems too likely that it will end in a divorce.

I like number 2 the best...

So far I've just found one good reason for marriage and that is the construction of a steady family with fixed rules about the relations between the ones that are in the family. I think that if you have a steady family your odds of having a steady personality increase, not that that gives a certainty of having a good life.

I think a commitment that goes into the future is just another mental pattern that we fix. I don't even think that if you love someone you have to commit to her, you just love her and live every day like that, and if you happen to live every day of your life in love with that same person, great!!

I personally think marriage is a load of crap, it's overhyped and over expensive and the main reason people (women) do it these days is so they can show off and have a 'look at me' day.

How does a new shiny ring and a piece of signed paper prove love? UmItDoesn't. It just shows you were stupid enough to spend thousands on a marriage that's probably gona end in divorce.

^ I agree with you but most people do this cause they're afraid of what other people will say. Many people are still backward and not open-minded and they don't accept a couple live together and raise a family without being married. Hope someday these biases will be blacked out!

Agree, that´s the main reason I find to get married, cuz of the family and speacialy the kids. It´s known that almost all of us wanna have kids cuz that´s a part of living indeed. So, if parents are married or not, is such an important role in their development, they have more security about their happinnes, economy, etc, and we have to accept it, more than kids whose parents are either divorced or didn´t ever get married, which creates some kinda of that unsteady feeling in them, which could bring lots of problems to them.

Of course, I agree also with Layla and Maddbat (or something like that, forgive me, hahaha) in the fact that some people get married just for not being a the old single in town. In here, and I think most of Latin American countries, there´s always that kinda people and they´re not so well seen in their environment, it´s not that people throw stones to them when they walk in the streets, but there are always those kinda comments like: OHHH LOOK... SHE WAS SO HORRIBLE, SHE COULD NEVER GET MARRIED...OHHH HE´S GAY SO HE DIDN´T GET MARRIED...etc

So most of the people like to get married at certain age which goes from 22-35 years old approx. (which makes me think that I have 10 years to decide the woman I wanna get married, *scared*).

But anyway, I think marriage is like another level in our lifes and that we should all get through it, to have more security, to share our achievements with the person you love, to raise and give your kids the best you can, etc.

That´s my personal view of what marriage is!

Oh and thanks Rodrigo, you should also create more discussion threads in here, we need more of them!

i respect anyone who can get married and make it work permenantly, obviously no married couple will be constantly happy, there are ups and downs, but its so nice to see elderly couples together, who've spent practically their whole lives with eachother, and still love eachother! aww lol

but that happens for so few people, lol, especially now divorce is more acceptable

But sometimes divorce is the only way forward, i personally wish my parents would get divorced because they hate eachother, it rips apart the family, and the longer they force themselves to be a married couple, the worse the situation will become (if thats even possible)


but i dont reckon i'll get married, i just can't see it happening .. although im only 16 (17 in 9 days!!!!!) so of course this could change ... i also cant imagine me having kids ... i'll probably wind up being one of those women who are obsessed with their career lol
