More lyrics:
It hurts my soul, cause I can't let go All these walls are caving in, I can't stop my sufferin' I hate to show that I've lost control Cause I, I keep going right back to the one thing that I need Oh, I'm about to break, I can't stop this ache I'm addicted to your allure, and I'm fiendin' for a cure Every step I take leads to one mistake I keep going right back to the one thing that I need Oh, I can't mend this torn state I'm in Getting nothing in return, what did I do to deserve The pain of this slow burn And everywhere I turn, I keep going right back to the one thing that I need To walk away from yeaahh... That's from X-Tina, "Walk Away." This is the part of the song, it's towards the end, that a)converted me into a real X-Tina fan and b)that I dream about because I think it's just sung with such passion and her voice bowls me over every time

This is the first ever epic song. It's amazing, you can actually feel all the emotion pass by. It's a + 22 minutes song. For me this is the song that makes me all energised and emotional. The song is called Supper's Ready interpreted and composed by Genesis (Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, etc)
The beginning part Walking across the sitting-room, I turn the television off. Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes. As the sound of motor cars fades in the night time, I swear I saw your face change, it didn't seem quite right. ...And it's hello babe with your guardian eyes so blue Hey my baby don't you know our love is true. Maybe you are not very used to progressive rock, but you should give it a try.

Tom Wait's "Shore Leave"....alot of his music is very illustrative, lots of imagery, lots of sentiment. This one's no different.
One verse: "I wonder if this same moon over this chinatown fair, looks down on Illinois, to find you there" I love that, he's halfway around the world on leave, yet to him they share the moon. ooo...ok I'm a cheese. And technically, with time zones it's probably sunny where she's at, but hey. Sad (lost) love songs usually have the best lyrics, so here's a couple favourites: Tori Amos' "Hey Jupiter" from Boys for Pele. She recorded this album after a huge breakup, so the songs run a gamut of emotion. But "Hey Jupiter" is where she totally gives in, stops acting like everything's ok, and admits defeat. Lyrics aside, really you need to hear her voice to get the full effect (sung with alot of vulnerability and hurt). It opens with "No one's picking up the phone..." and it sets the mood, because it's the final realisation that "it's over". It's repeated in the opening of the last verse. This is just a few parts of the song... Sometimes I breathe you in And I know you know And sometimes you take a swim Found your writing on my wall If my hearts soaking wet Boy your boots ccan leave a mess No one's picking up the phone Guess it's clear he's gone And this little masochist Is lifting up her dress Guess I thought I could never feel The things I feel Hey Jupiter |

Wilco's "How to Fight Loneliness".., basically about covering up the heartache by trying to appear like everything's ok. A clip:
How do you fight the lonelness you smile all the time Shine your teeth to meaningless and sharpen them with lies I used to hate DMB until I heard some of their non-radio stuff, like "Grace is Gone"...straightforward sad song, guy's in a bar drinking, reflecting on his lost girl. Pieces of it.. Neon shines through smoky eyes tonight It?s 2 am - I?m drunk again it?s heavy on my mind I could never love again so much as I love you Where you end where I begin is like a river going through Take my eyes take my heart I need them no more If never again they fall upon the one I so adore Excuse me please one more drink Could make it strong cause I don?t need to think She broke my heart my Grace is gone One more drink and I?ll move on You think of things impossible and the sun refuse to shine I woke with you beside me your cold hand lay in mine That's enough for now. I've got some other songs in mind with great lyrics, something apart from the sad stuff here. |

umm.. well, firstly, Pete, u have great ideas for topics (gets away frm the pointless stupid ones that have no meanings..god knows I've started some of those).. and it really goes get you thinking about songs that you've heard and whether or not their lyrics are something that should be shared and applauded over. so far, the only song I can think of at the moment that, lyrically, means a lot to me is From Autumn To Ashes - Short Stories With Tragic Endings..heres an excerpt from the lyrics.
"Here you stand seething with guilt. Silence only justifies this act of cowardice. With a short story, the one you add to daily, you are the tragic loss. No story book ending for this fairy tale of you. Just the one composed with blood taken from your pen that you hold in your lifeless hand. Cry for you. Shed tears. Mourn. Wish the end." Link to the rest of the Lyrics.. From Autumn To Ashes - Short Stories With Tragic Endings Lyrics

Nice contributions thus far. I've listened to a few. Walk Away being my favourite but of course it already was hehe. Laney I loved parts of that song but couldn't stand other parts lol. It's like with FFAF, I can't stand the drummer's singing. The guy singing like he does at the start in this really detracts from the song imo. Each to their own of course.
Sorry but I'm in a big Tool mood at the moment so I'm gonna put another Tool song hehe. This song has a part I just want to keep rewinding cause it's so amazing the way he sings it, but with such amazing lyrics and such a musical journey I can hardly ever bring myself to do so, but rather just repeat the song. So the journey begins: Tool - Pushit (?nima) Lyrics Each verse begins with clever metaphorical self-proclaimations that leave me in a trance: I will choke until I swallow... Rest your trigger on my finger... Then comes the inspiration for the song: But you're pushing and shoving me. You still love me, and you pushit on me. This is where it mellows, the part that kills me: Slipping back into the gap again. I'm alive when you're touching me, alive when you're shoving me down. But I'd trade it all for just a little bit of piece of mind. Then he continues on pushing away: Saw that gap again today as you were begging me to stay. Managed to push myself away, and you, as well. But continues to have it pushed upon him: If, when I say I may fade like a sigh if I stay, You minimize my movement anyway, I must persuade you another way. Then the proclamation before the final powerful finale: There's no love in fear. Then after a slow song it all ends fast and loud and with a bang, leaving the listener begging for more, but still content with a perfect conclusion. Staring down the hole again. Hands upon my back again. Survival is my only friend. Terrified of what may come. Just remember I will always love you, Even as I tear your fucking throat away. But it will end no other way.

The "lunchbreak" part in Explode, which I am not bothering to type up, because I guess everyone have that cd. I just love her singing there.
And also the lines in my signature, from My Love Grows Deeper. And From Aaliyah- Never No More, It's not the lyrics but the ways she sings it: Oh I, walk away, that I one game I refuse to play I can't think of anything more now, but I know there is, so I'll find some of my favourite lyrics later.

lol, I love the lyrics in those two Nelly songs. My Love Grows Deeper is just so deep. I may start a topic on that...
For my favourite lyrics, I chose Evanescence - My Immortal: I'm so tired of being here suppressed by all of my childish fears and if you have to leave I wish that you would just leave because your presence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone these wounds won't seem to heal this pain is just too real there's just too much that time cannot erase when you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears when you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears and I've held your hand through all of these years but you still have all of me you used to captivate me by your resonating light but now I'm bound by the life you left behind your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams your voice it chased away all the sanity in me these wounds won't seem to heal this pain is just too real there's just too much that time cannot erase when you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears when you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears and I've held your hand through all of these years but you still have all of me I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone and though you're still with me I've been alone all along
