One of the founders of punk rock has died:

"Johnny Ramone of 'The Ramones' dies at 55

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Johnny Ramone, guitarist and co-founder of the seminal punk band "The Ramones" that influenced a generation of rockers, has died. He was 55.

Ramone, who had been fighting a five-year battle with prostate cancer, died in his sleep Wednesday afternoon at his Los Angeles home surrounded by friends and family, said the band's longtime artistic director Arturo Vega.

"He was the guy with a strategy. He was the guy who not only looked after the band's interest but he also was their defender," Vega said in a telephone interview from New York."

Wow. That's horrible. He was still so young. The Ramones were awesome, the live version of Sheena Is A Punk Rocker is definetly one of my favourite songs. That's a tragedy + a great loss. My thoughts go out to his friends + family.

Damn the Johny Ramone

"He's the one who invented all of you!" (quote: some dude at a punk festival)

And he was right. Ramone was (almost) the best (after Sid ofcourse)

awwww poor Johnny. At least he's not suffering anymore. It's such a shame him and his brother both dying of cancer. RIP
