Issues about body image

Not all women are skinny models. I have so many close friends who are so self-conscious about the shape of their bodies. And it’s so disheartening to see all these skinny model-types on tv and makeover shows where big people get some sort of surgery done for the sake of beauty. They need to come out with shows or movies with real people. I really look up to Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray and Jennifer Hudson from DreamGirls...

is there anyone you look up to??

But I think models && anorexia are giving alot of teenagers a hard time..
Its not all about being skinny..
I used to think I was huge && I admit..I was anorexic a couple of times..
But I realized I should like myself for who I am..
&& not try to impress other people...But thin is NOT in...

Definitely Sara Ramirez as Callie Torres in Grey's Anatomy. That character is all about confidence and has been embraced by women as an icon: a female, latin, not ravenous-skinny orthopedic surgeon. And she's so gorgeous, I love her

She is latin and a women, but not a surgeon - she's an actress... for me that effectively reduces the chance of becoming an icon
Fortunately the world is full of real people, just hang out with the right persons and eventually there will be none but real people you know

Lily Allen <3 she's curvy and doesn't care. Others are Nelly with her amazing, juicy ass cheeks, J-Lo, Charlotte Church, Scarlet Johansson, Kate Winslet, Catherine Z.Jones etc. All have NORMAL, curvy bodies.

I'd rather have an ass and boobs than a ribcage and coccyx bone. Skinny is gross.

Ah well, I meant a TV character icon, you get the idea. I listened to an interview with the actress and she said that the producers of Grey's Anatomy saw her performing on a play and were so taken by her that they offered her a character on the show.

So apparently the character was tailor-made for her, built around her identity as an actress: a normal-sized, latin woman. That's pretty cool, isn't it? She impressed them so much she influenced the show by making them want to create this character.
