how did u become a nelly fan?

I was on holiday in LA.
And when I went to a music shop in Beverly Hills I saw a Whoa, Nelly! stand and I liked ILAB and TOTL so I grabbed it.
When I listen to her first album, all my memories come up from that holiday in America. And I love that.

I'm pretty new also . . . I always liked I'm Like a Bird, but it got played out and I never actually bought the CD . . . I guess sometime last year, I decided to look at her review on rollingstone.com and they mentioned how "Hey, Man" was like a Philip Glass piece, and I got interested and downloaded it and became obsessed with the song. Then I had my friend burn me a copy of Whoa, and it took off from there

I've told this story to a number of ppl. and even posted it on her 'official' boards when I 1st became a fan. long story short....

, I moved in w/ a girl who had just had a fight w/ her previous roomate and the girl ended up moving out, and I moved in.she gave me a cd and said ' here, my old roomate bought this, I was gonna throw it away but I figured id ask u if u by any chance want it first, I would take it back but I have no idea where she got it from'

well turns out the cd was nellys. it was early 2001 ( around march)before her career really began to take off.so I was some what unfamilar w/ her. but I recognised the song ' I'm like a bird' and even though I didnt really like it that much, I'm really open minded and decided to give the rest of the album a try. and , the rest is HISTORY !

many of u have heard about this a bazillion times... but I'll remind u all again.

well u see, I saw the ILAB video on Disney for the 1st time in March 2001... me and my sister Trista became obsessed with how beautiful Nelly's eyes are... I wouldnt say I was a fan at the time, I was just obsessed with the video... well then in June 2001, I was on a roadtrip to California and I was feeling very depressed cause I missed my 8th grade english teacher a lot (she is my all time favourite teacher... I miss her dearly to this day) ... it was that day that ILAB stood out more than it ever did before, and I was happy... happier than I've ever been before. Nelly got me through that very hard time... I owe her soooo much. well then I bought Whoa nelly in August 2001 and although I only listened to a few songs, the others grew on me and soon became my favourite... before I kknew it, I was obsessed... and I am still like that today, except much much more.

the first time I heard Turn Off the LIght on the radio I was hooked. I actually never heard of I'm like a bird till after that. I was at school at the time and was too busy partying that I rarely listened to the radio. Now I like ILAB better... from that I got my sister and my cousin listening to her (the few musical interests that we share)

Spring of 2001, I was watching MTV2, and on that channel, I saw Nelly Furtado's ILAB video for the first time. Then in the spring and summer when ILAB and TOTL were respectively in heavy top-40 radio rotation, I was just starting to get into her music.

That autumn, when I entered college, a friend of mine who was in my class was also a fan of Nelly Furtado's. She had a lot of Nelly Furtado stuff (including an NF bumper sticker she gave me), and that's how I really got into her.

I got into her more and more and became a big fan of hers. Whenever she was on TV, I would tune in to see her.

Not only have I gotten into Nelly Furtado, but I have gotten into her music as well. Her music has influenced and inspired me so much.

To this day, I am still a big fan of hers. Through thick and thin, I have shown my support for Nelly and her music.
