Crazy Christmas Lights

Here in Brisbane quite a few houses have massive Christmas light displays that seem to practically double in size every year. I can't imagine the power consumption and how much they spent on them in the first place. Anyway, there's a competition for the best ones so a few places have some huuuge setups. One of them is in my neighbourhood and I went to have a look to see it cos I heard it was bigger this year. I took my camera to grab a few pics. This is just an ordinary house decorated by some ordinary owners...well I'd guess they're pensioners with a lot of time on their hands lol.









The pics don't really do it justice. There's so many ornaments and lights etc in the front yard. Here's a BIGGER VERSION OF FIRST SHOT.

Does this happen everywhere? I mean to this extent. Cos quite a number of houses do this and to actually walk in and have a look it's just phenomenal.

Mental pics mate, this happens where i live too, ill try and get some shots of the crazy houses around my area, they just seem to get bigger and bigger every year. And you are right.. they are usually pensioners

I think it's stupid. I mean, it's OK for the kids, but you just know the parents are doing it for themselves, innit. There was this guy in a paper a few weeks back whose house is donned in lights like the pics you posted, Pete, but he was a dole-ite scrounger claiming benefits, not working, yet could afford all these fecking lights and what-have-you PLUS the electricity bills! People like that piss me off.

Pfft it's perfectly within my rights to do so. When I was on their property walking around they had the right to deny me taking photos but not when I took them from the street and what harm am I doing? Isn't everywhere a neighbourhood watch area these days? Not like it actually means anything.

I'm not saying it's illeagal, coz it's not, but people might get suspicious of someone taking photos of someone's house at night. Might be 'casing tha joint'.

Fair enough but not this place haha. I think it's obvious what I'm photographing. There's always like at least 30 people there having a look at the lights.

That's just ugly. It definitely doesn't happen here cos people don't spend money on crap like that.
