Exclamation Burning DVDs..

could anyone who burns DVDs please tell me what software you use to do it?

cuz i swear, it takes me about 3 hours to burn one dvd (and its not necessarily massive files, eg. episode of Lost)

right now im using Cyberlink DVD Solution.. its just the software that came along with my DVD drive (im sure my drive isnt the problem, its relatively new and burns CDs n stuff fine and fast..)

help!

thanks

Re: Burning DVDs..

Yeh thats what i recommened, but it depends what you are trying to copy, are you re-encoding a video you downloaded off the internet? Because if it takes 3hrs that would most probably be one of the reasons. Or are you trying to just burn pure data?

i have absolutely no idea what its doing.. but yeah, it's stuff I've downloaded. I just pick a file then press burn lol.. and then it takes forever. so is there nothing I can do to stop that if its "re-encoding"?

Re: Burning DVDs..

Well there is, but any video file that you download unless its not a DVDRIP will need re-ecoding. But if you use other software you can speed it up, maybe the the one you are using does "2 pass encoding" meaning it encodes once then again, meaning it takes double the time. But there should be settings in there for you to adjust the encoding. Check advanced or something along those lines. Plus if you computer hardware isnt up to scratch, that will also increase the time it takes. Its best to encode the video whilst you are not using your PC with everything you are not using closed, including uneeded programmes by the clock. Then sit back and wait.

Re: Burning DVDs..

Well, I use Nero to burn DVD's and to creat VOB files from avi ones. The later one can take up to 3 hours to burn it into a dvd-r (600Mb avi to +/- 4Gb VOB file).

I also use CloneDVD to copy an original dvd (movie; dual-layer) to a dvd-r (single layer) and that can take me up to +/- 1h.

Oh, and AnyDVD breaks the internal security from the original DVDs too.

I'm not an internet/software expert, so if I wrote something wrong dont kill me... I've just learn to do all these things by myself and... well, it works lol

Re: Burning DVDs..

Ah... DVD Shrink works well. Unless you want all the extras and such. If you just want the movie DVD shrink is the way to go. I dont think its available on the DVD shrink site but some searching should yield results.

Re: Burning DVDs..

Yeah Laney, if you want to like burn an episode of Lost you downloaded onto a dvd so you can watch it on a regular dvd player, suffice to say it's not gonna happen lol. I mean it's doable but I dunno if you'll want to work out how to do it all. I dunno maybe there are easier ways nowadays but it takes quite a bit of effort to do it and it's difficult for someone to just tell you how to do it.

If you just want to backup something on dvd then that's easy and just choose Backup or whatever, but I doubt that's what you want. You can also get a dvd player that reads divx, xvid, etc, or you can download the full 4.5~GB dvd and burn it a lot easier. Yeah none sound like much fun do they? lol try something someone mentioned perhaps, otherwise you have to encode the video to a full dvd size which can take hours and then burn that to dvd and it's always lots of fun and full of complications and not all videos will work the same.
