The singer ends Sandi Thom's reign at the top
Nelly Furtado has knocked Sandi Thom off the top of the UK chart with her single 'Maneater'.

The track, which was Number Eight last week, shot seven places to end Sandi's one week reign in the top spot.

But the Scottish singer can take some consolation in the fact that her debut album 'Smile It Confuses People' shot straight to the top of the album chart.

Embrace's World Cup single 'World At Your Feet' is in at Number Three this week after a disappointing start had it at 38 last week.

This week's Top 10 singles are:

3. Embrace - 'World At Your Feet'

Furtado beats World Cup songs to top chart

LONDON (Reuters) - Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado held off a slew of World Cup anthems to score her first British number one with "Maneater", the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.

Furtado, who enjoyed her own football success when her "Forca" was chosen as the official song of the Euro 2004 soccer championship in Portugal, edged Scottish singer Sandi Thom's "I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker" from the top spot into second place.

"World At Your Feet", the England team's official anthem from indie band Embrace, soared to third place from number 38, making it the best performer of six World Cup songs in the top 15.

Nelly Furtado has removed fellow female Sandi Thom from the top of the UK singles charts with her latest effort called Maneater.
The Portuguese star also holds off competition from a host of England world cup songs including Embrace?s World At Your Feet at 3 and ex chart topper Three Lions by Baddiel/Skinner/Lightning Seeds at 10.

In the albums charts, the top 5 is made up of brand new entries with Sandi Thom?s debut Smile It Confuses People taking top spot. The Feeling enter at 2 with their debut called Twelve Stops And Home whist old timers Ronan Keating, Paul Simon and Primal Scream enter at 3,4 and 5 respectively

Canadian star Nelly Furtado fended off a string of football-themed tracks to take the number one spot in the UK singles chart, with hit song Maneater.

well yes, unfortunately no.1. is important cuz on every web page, on every chart on the radio in uk, on every chart on tv where they are showing every week the chart in uk, even on billboard where they are writing current stats in uk, there will be first no.1. for nelly furtado... well it is just great...
