The Portuguese/Canadian songstress rose to fame in 2000 with single “I’m Like A Bird” which topped charts worldwide. Previously she had performed as one half of trip-hop duo Nelstar*. However following the birth of her daughter Nevis Furtado took a more demure approach to music with album “Folklore,” which, whilst critically acclaimed failed to appeal to a broader audience. In 2006 however Furtado will be back with a vengeance. Her new album “Loose” will hit stores on 23rd May and first single “Promiscuous” is an 80s inspired pop/hip-hop gem featuring mega music mogul Timbaland. “I am excited,” exclaims Furtado on her official website Nellyfurtado.com. “Loose is a fast, fun album.” She continues to talk about her upcoming tours of the States and Europe, saying “[My] band is rehearsing, Summer is booked solid with festivals and touring in Europe and England....North American dates currently being planned for.
