Well, I see most of America's cultures usually pertaining to regional areas. New Orleans, LA for example. But to pick out a singluar culture for all of America is tough. Even New Orleans has roots with the French (again, America being made up of different cultures)..though the city has evolved into it's own entity. Similar to cities with strong cultural ties overseas...like Chinatown, or places where Irish-Americans and Italian-Americans are prevelant.

Ok, I'm about to sort've deviate here, but I'm using the same ideas...
Let's say we did a an art project called "People of the World", like a calendar or something. We could easily identify each nationality by some signature clothing or style. Kimonos for Japan, sari's for India, one of those fluffy dresses for Sweden (along with Windmills, wooden shoes, all those easy to identify national icons/stereotypes). But America? Besides some star spangled Uncle Sam motif, what would someone use? The Wild West itself is a visual subject that's totally American, but it's too old and it only pertains to the western region. Cowboy hats are still worn today, but again that's regional. So, would America best be depicted as a collection of these outside cultures?

It's funny because there is no old fashioned clothing style that's really uniquely American, and that's still worn today. Either casually or for ceremonies (Civil War and cowboy reenactments aside). People still wear kimonos, kilts, and saris...and other old fashioned clothing is worn for certain occasions (say, lederhasuen for Oktoberfest performances in Germany, for one example). But there's nothing like that in America, unless you're Amish or Native American.

Anyhow, I know part of people's tendencies toward pop culture is just natural. I lived in Germany for a few years and alot of the old people dressed like they stopped shopping 50 years ago while the young people were much like us American kids.

So far I haven't pushed my illustration skills out there, but I've a friendly connection in Dallas who has some possible things lined up. We shall see.
And you? Freelance or in-house?
I really like them Dellamorte very cool.

Yeah I'm a freelance designer too I find work on the side, but I want to start my own business In graphic design, but right now I'm trying to get into 3d animation to make computer games or maybe even short animated films, see what happens.
