Leesa, yeah we see eye to eye here, on the Latin & old style deals. Really the first pic reminded me too much of some animated movie shot, and just didn't have that personal passionate feel I wanted. It's more modeled realistically too (all the shading), which I scrapped because I wanted this to look like a representation and not a real girl itself. hehe gringo! You do make a good case, Portu- ..Me, being an outsider and doing art relating to another person's culture, I totally appreciate it when the work is accepted by them.


I can understand if a gringo may miss the mark when doing something similar though. Like with Santo...many Americans probably don't know who he is, so they'd ask "why a wrestler?". I wanted to use him as a subject because he was still a hero in & outside of his professional career. So his presence comes with respect too.
(Frida's an artist I like, so I added her for personal reasons, as well as the fact that she -and Diego- helped give Mexico a face in the fine art world)

yeah totally luved the colours on la calabera de Frida! tho I don't think she had those boobs!

And yeah El Santo did save us from the vampires, the mummies, ghost u name it! all with his own hand no need for guns! DO I see a little resemblance to Van Gogh on the background?

Ok, the guitar girl isn't Frida! But yes there was some Van Gogh-ishness on the first one (ala his "Starry Night" painting)
