To anyone who's said that Nelly's "Spanish" songs suck

To anyone who has said that Nelly's songs in "Spanish" suck or that the translations don't make any sense: your ignorance is truly amusing. You see, Nelly Furtado doesn't sing any songs in Spanish. In fact, I don't even think she knows Spanish. Nelly is of Portuguese descent and speaks the language fluently (and sings it beautifully, I might add); the songs that you speak of are in Portuguese. For those of you who don't know, Portugal is a country in Europe and Portuguese is the official language of seven countries, the most well known of those being Portugal and Brazil. Although there are many similarities, the fact remains that it is a completely different language than Spanish, which is what is spoken in Spain and most of the rest of South and Central America. So there you go - perhaps you should educate yourself before you go criticising next time.

Yes she does sing in Spanish, for example Fotografia and Powerless Spanish version.
and No Hay Igual isn't a portuguese song but a Spanish song.

Well, mandysue, I think that you're the one that "should educate yourself before you go criticising". Nelly has, as has been stated, as of now 4 songs in Spanish: Fotograf?a, the Spanish version of Powerless and Te Busqu? with Juanes, plus No Hay Igual. She also sang A Dios Le Pido with Juanes at the 2002 Latin Grammys.

Being a native Spanish speaker I can tell you that her pronounciation in these Spanish songs is not perfect, but it is quite good. No Hay Igual, on the other hand doesn't make much sense, and I'll have to wait for Loose to drop to pass judgement on Te Busqu?.

It seems to me you're the one that can't distinguish Spanish from Portuguese, so next time you go ranting about how ignorant the other forum members are, you should check your facts first.
