Another review on 'Promiscuous'.

Quote:
Nelly Furtado, "Promiscuous"

REVIEWED BY ROBERT BALLANTYNE, POSTED ON 14TH MAY 2006

[3 stars out of 5]

It took more than a few spins for Nelly Furtado's latest single to fully impact on me, especially since upon first play, it sounds like she has become Rihanna-lite in “Promiscuous.” Though it's hard to fault Furtado for wanting a hit record after 2003's Folklore tanked commercially, "Promiscuous" is the first track where Furtado sounds like she's under the influence of a Svengali. If that's the case, she's certainly in capable hands as "Promiscuous" features killer production from hitmaker Timbaland. And while no one will accuse “Promiscuous” of having deep thoughts — it's about two people who are deciding when and how they're going to have their one-night stand — it's got a chorus and groove that make it a no-brainer crossover radio hit. But at what cost? If Furtado's world music-influenced, conscious pop isn't selling records anymore, is making sleazy, faceless hip-pop tracks the appropriate compromise? Apparently so. It actually is a fair review, I think. I hope that the whole album will get better ones, though. And I also hope Nelly will prove everyone that has called her a sell-out wrong. God, I can not wait to hear Loose in its entirety...

All I have to say is that when people review a song, they dont have too end up juding the whole album on one song.

Well, oftentimes, the leading singles are supposed to be the best representation of a new album. But other times they can end up being the worst songs on the album.

Re: Another review on 'Promiscuous'.

I liked the review, appreciate honesty. Most music if fluff. I have many CDs that are fluff, fluff is good. I enjoy non-fluff too. I don't like Promiscuous though and that's fine. It is only one song and may or may not represent the album.
